What is the " Amicale des olonnois "
The Amicale des Olonnois is a 1901 law association whose purpose is:
- Promote traditional sailing, restore Olonnois and traditional wooden sailboats.
- Create links between owners or co-owners within this fleet.
- Encourage the friendly to drop the moorings for pleasant outings at sea. Organize regattas and participate in nautical events.
- Promote all initiatives aimed at promoting the image of the Association, such as the Groupe de Chants.
It has more than 130 members, with a fleet of just over sixty traditional sailboats, most of which are represented by 55 Olonnois, grouped with the Bélesbats and related sailboats within Port Olona, at pontoon M, access by rue de la Cabaude or allée du Frère Maximin.
THE ACTIVITIES PROPOSED BY L'AMICALE
ACTIVITIES
In navigation, pull edges with the winds and in complete freedom, or even tease the sea bass or other fish, often mackerel…, in the Bay of Sands.
Participate in regattas organized every 15 days from May to October. First or last the main thing is to participate.
Join the friendly outings for picnics on the water, or simply pleasure of sailing together.
Participate in the major nautical events of Les Sables d’Olonne: Maritime Heritage Days, Golden-Globe-Race, Vendée-Globe, Route-Pêche, La Grande Bordée…
Participate in outdoor nautical events: Week of the Gulf of Morbihan, Vilaine en fête, regattas from the Bois de la Chaise in Noirmoutier, Fleuves-Iles-Pertuis (FIP) in Charente, La Fête Maritime de la Rochelle, Fête fête in Douarnenez, Rendez-vous de l’Erdre…
A group of songs, which brings together many Amicalists. As soon as they have abandoned their ropes, they get together, always in a good mood, to make their vocal cords vibrate, singing the songs of sailors, thus perpetuating the tradition of seafarers.
A space converted into a clubhouse in our Hall 6 Dubernet. Reunion after the regattas for the pot of friendship.
Every Sunday passage appreciated in this place, not to attend, but to… participate in the “Mass”. Moments of exchange, called, as they say, “counter briefs”, allowing everyone to report on their exploits or misadventures as a sailor or earthling.
Festive meetings in our Hall for the pleasure of having a good time among members, such as “La Sardinade”.
Construction of cardboard boats for a memorable race full of enthusiasm, both for those who participate and for those who watch and encourage them, in a “debauchery” of… laughter.
Well-adapted equipment with tractor-trailer-porty to carry out the exits and launches of boats. A large and well-equipped workshop to carry out, in the dry, maintenance and repairs: fairings, “ripolinage” of hulls and spars. Our old riggings require care, most of them over…60 years old
If some interventions require specific know-how, there are always perfect connoisseurs of woodworking within the Amicale who are able to give advice…wise, and put their competence to the intervention of certain implementations. As proof, the reconstruction of wrecks, where only the bast remained (Olonnois Magalie), which come back to life in expert hands, assisted by very dedicated & cooperative volunteers
